Feeling lit, feeling light, 2 am, summer night.
Bore off dissertation already! So today I realized that sitting at my desk for months on end trying to finish all my uni work and eating absolute rubbish has resulted in a slight muffin top developing... erm, never been to the gym and don't intend to start now, any lazy girl tips? haha!
I don't really have anything to blog about, other than how this is a massive distraction from work... I swear my blog will get interesting as of next week! It's also only 11 days til my driving test, eeeek!
Absolutely obsessed with this song at the moment! I recommend a listen!I've also just had a massive shopping spree on Topshop inspired by my post yesterday, can't wait to create my first haul post (I'm the only one excited right?!) BRIGHT THINGS!
And finally (yup only a short post, did I mention I have 11,000 words to do for next Wednesday?!), I just wanted to say thank you to everyone now following me and for all your lovely comments, I love reading them! I'm still discovering more and more blogs everyday that are ace, why I never started this before I never know!!
Lots of love xxx

Turn those blues to brights
Moschino Cheap & Chic
Jil Sander SS11
Prada Fantasy Collection
Palmoa Faith and Marina Diamandis
Still haven't got the hang of these photos on blogger, never seem to layout the way I want them too, Hmmmmm.
So today I have been to the library like a good student and made an attempt to plow through the work, one week and 11,000 words, superb. Naturally I felt a bit low about all of this and decided what better way to cheer me up than with a splash of colour. At first glance, the Moschino suit may seem a little garish (and perhaps even after the second, or even third...) but I absolutely love it! Can't see myself wearing it as a one piece, but would definitely wear that jacket over a LBD. It kinda gives me a Mr Blobby vibe too, not really sure if this is the intention here, but hey I loved Noel's house party (and now I feel so incredibly old!)
The entire Jil Sander SS11 collection was amazing, hence why I tried to use images with as many of the outfits on I could find! Many bloggers have written about their distaste of the 'colour blocking' trend, but personally I love it, simple, eye catching and these brights certainly give the feel good factor.
100% in love with those Prada shoes. I would probably sell my dissertation and fail my degree (not that the total 1,000 words is worth all that much at the moment!) for these babies. Maybe I could spoil myself with them as a end of uni treat? IF ONLY.
And finally, a picture of two of my style crushes Paloma and Marina. I don't intend to blog about celebrities, but I loved this picture of the pair, bright lips and hair bows too.
I have decided to stay at my parents house a little longer (better food) so will be unable to make any outfit posts still, which is quite annoying but is given me lots of time to think of some good ones and remember outfits I've liked that I've worn recently!

Chocolate Induced Coma
Hello Twigglets!
I'm hoping you all hope a wonderful Easter yesterday, personally I ate so much chocolate that I had to have a nap, and woke up 10 hours later... now thats what I call a cracking Easter Sunday!
So, in my previous postings I stated I was going to do an outfit post in the next few days. So I got all set up to take the pictures (I never appreciated how hard it is to actually find a spot to take photos with good light etc) and my camera is flat. Unfortunately, I am at my parents house for a few days so I don't even have my charger until I go back to Hull. Bummer. I guess though this is a good reason to be getting on with some work!
Thought I'd share my dress choice for my Universities end of year ball thats coming up soonish. It's been an amazing event for the past two years, and with it now being my third and final year, I thought what better reason to buy something spectacular (with what my poor student wage will allow!)
Dress: Shelby's Summer Dress, French Connection, £155.
Ahh, soon as I saw this dress I was in love! The colour, the chiffon, the pleats! Quite a daring deep V, but luckily for me nature did not give me a lot to worry about exposure wise! Can anyone recommend a decent 'tit-tape'?
Shoes: KG by Kurt Geiger, £170. I saw these shoes and I am actually obsessed with them. All Kurt Geiger shoes send me into a kind of wishful and wanting haze. At £170 though, I think I'll keep my eye out for a much cheaper high street version.
Bag: Mango, £60.
This bag is from Mango, a brand I haven't always been to keen on. But recently, through it's stock list on sites such as ASOS which I browse frequently, they have come to my attention once again but this time for having some rather interesting and desirable pieces. I love the suede texture and tobacco colour and think it would look great with the dress, some big seventies inspired hair and equally big shoes! Both the shoes and bag can be found at ASOS.
So I best get back to my essays, but some great blogs I have come across in the last few days are Heather's blog which has loads of amazing tips and inspiration for customizing clothes (I shall definitely be having a go at recreating her latest piece fringed denim shorts!), my good friend Florence who has a great passion for film, culture and today's society, and of course my lovely boyfriend Luke who likes football, gadgets and ranting (and me, of course!)

The final push... that leads to what?
“When you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. You could break a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there's no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?” - Carrie Bradshaw
Nothing can soothe a worrying mind better than the ever questioning Carrie Bradshaw and a reminder that, I'm probably not the only one feeling like this right now!
As I previous mentioned in my last post, I'm in the middle of my final year projects at Uni. It's not going so well. Lack of motivation and then worries about what the future holds is what constantly takes over. True, after the final push and everything is handed in life will be carefree and hella fun again. But until then, perhaps I just need to cheer myself up with some new SWAG (and I can't believe I have just said SWAG).
So, todays post, isn't really a post. I tried to not come on here and do some work but I am just so intrigued by the many different blogs out there. Still not really sure how to focus my blog but I am planning to do an outfit post in the next few days. Owao exciting!
For now, I am going to snuggle up in bed and watch some Sex and the City!

The Manhattan once-over
Hello and welcome to my first ever post! I guess I should start by saying that my name is Nikki Martin, I am 21 years of age and I'm a bit hungry right now, but as I have sighted some maltesters (cheers mum!) I will continue with posting about me!
So, who are you?
I am from Scarborough, but I currently live in Hull attending University. I am studying Psychology, only I have no real interest in the subject, even after five years of studying. Lame.
Why style twigs?
Style twigs to me means little twigglets from the great fashion tree, or something like that. Perhaps it could mean stylish looking twigs, not that I've seen many twigs lying about in the latest Stella McCartney frock. Or maybe that I am myself a 'twig' (there ain't a lot of meat on my bones) with some 'style' (here's to hoping!)
What's ya point like?
Well basically, anything and everything that I feel inspired to blog about. I can tell you now, this is mostly going to be clothes, shoes, bags.....
Okay so yes, mainly about fashion then.
Okay then, so what's your style?
Generic answer alert: Could not put a label on it. I love to wear leather jackets, tartan scarves (all time favorite item of clothing is my red tartan scarf from Greenwoods) super skinny jeans and biker boots to floral dresses and floaty skirts, Gothic lace to vintage dresses. I dress for my mood and always for the weather (as there is nothing worse than being cold!). I'm not going to say I do not like trends, as I actually find trends immensely interesting. Some are great, and I love buying 'trendy' pieces, but it is true that what is necessary trendy is not going to necessarily suit you.
Where and When (can't really think of a question for these)
I decided to start this blog after a long time of debating whether to with myself, my house mate, my boyfriend, about how it will just distract me from Uni work (which is so very easy to do), so naturally I have a third year deadlines in less than two weeks and I have decided to start today. :) I do read a lot of blogs and would love to share a part in the blogging word, so hopefully my procrastination now is somewhat productive (and better than reading tweets all day long!)
And finally, the Manhattan once-over?
Ahh, the title of my first post is a phrase penned by the wonderful Sophie Kinsella in the Confessions of a Shopaholic series. It stands for the quick up-down look females (but males do it too!) give other females as they pass by, usually checking out their outfit.
If you've never read it, you haven't lived (the film just isn't the same!)
Oh, this is me btw (the gingey on the right)....
So, at the end of this post, your blogger once-over is complete, and one does hope that you approve.
